ABOUT THE WEBSHOP STUDIO FOUNDER
That's me, Kris Black, there, with my face to the sun. I'm an eternal optimist. Challenges are adventures for me.
I came to the Netherlands from Canada 15 years ago. My first job at Philips taught me a lot about working for an international brand. After some years building up experience, I went out on my own as a freelance graphic designer.
I had a good network, and I quickly got work at WE Fashion, then Hunkemöller, Kipling and Dockers. Living the dream, right?!
I started to notice that my marketing contacts were managing increasingly demanding content schedules. I wanted to help out. I have a large network of talented freelance colleagues, so I started reaching into my little black book.
After several successful collaborative projects, it occurred to me that I could offer this help on a larger scale and The Webshop Studio was born.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Why do you like to work for international brands?
A: We love exploring cultures and learning what makes them tick. These international brands are on their game in many different countries and languages. It's super exciting to produce top content and watch it go out into the world.
Q: How long have you been working with international brands?
A: Going on 17 years now. First in Canada for an alcoholic beverage distributor, and then here in the Netherlands for Philips, WE Fashion, Kipling, Hunkemöller and Dockers to name a few.
Q: What’s your dream client?
A: Our dream client is one that wants to make a difference in the world. They should be able to see that by using their marketing skills for the purpose of good they will also connect themselves to lasting, quality brand ambassadors.
Q: What do you mean by make a difference in the world?
A: Call us dreamers, but we think everybody can make a difference. It’s up to each individual, or company to find their own unique contribution. So, that could be humor to lighten somebody’s day, a charitable contribution, providing more knowledge, inspiration, whatever.
Q: Do you also speak/write Dutch or any other languages?
A: We're specialised in English communication, but we have experts in many different languages who can jump in to provide text or voiceovers if you need it.
Q: How do you maintain your network?
A: We do a lot of collaboration work, we attend a lot of events, we like to socialise. This keeps the network constantly evolving and we're always meeting new people with new skill sets that step up our game.
Q: Where are you based?
A: Head office is centrally based in Utrecht, the Netherlands. The talent is coming from Utrecht, Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Den Bosch.
Q: Can we come to you?
A: Absolutely! The more the merrier, or as they say in Dutch... "Gezellig!" Our head office in Utrecht has full meeting facilities and good coffee.
